Mini Moderns

If you are a Mini Moderns fan and like me you love mid century design then put Monday 7th September in your diary.Mini Moderns have teamed up with online interior retailer Swoon Editions to produce this limited Designer Edition Carnaby armchair in the Pavillion print. Only 10 of these Designer Editions are available – once they’re gone, they’re gone! The Pavillion print in orange is an abstract design based on the Abacus screen created by architect Edward Mills to mask London’s Hungerford Bridge during the 1951 Festival of Britain.

According to the designers: “Our Pavilion print is a firm favourite. It complements our Festival wallpaper, which we designed to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Festival of Britain, featuring different pavilions and sites which appeared at the Southbank exhibition.”

“The inspiration for our designs can be from anywhere – but all of them have a personal connection to us as designers, whether its old TV programmes we enjoyed as children, collections of things we own, travel, literature, music and personal memories, or our experiences and interests. We are both social history buffs so we always try to weave stories into our designs.”

The Carnaby chair is a Swoon Editions bestseller. The tapered mango wood legs and gentle curves hark back to classic mid-century styling. The designers continued: “What attracted us to the Carnaby style is its simplicity. Its mid-century influence sits well with our designs.”

The Carnaby by Mini Moderns goes on sale on Monday 7th September, priced £499 including delivery at Swoon Editions...not bad for a limited edition design piece.
