Moving made easy with Eve Sleep

I was trying to count how many times I moved house and the answer is 38 times! Can you beat that? The last time we moved was about 4 months ago, and yes I still have a few boxes to unpack still! So when the lovely peeps at Eve Sleep asked me if I wanted to take part in their campaign and give you guys a few practical tips about moving, of course I said yes!

Have a clear out!

This is definitely a positive about moving! Nothing beats a good old sort out of all the stuff we accumulate over the months/years. It really is a good opportunity to get rid of anything that you haven't used in a while. If you have things you can sell then all the better, you will need some extra pennies for the new house. Do a car boot sale, list stuff on Ebay or Gumtree, even Facebook has a market place for second hand goods.

Be methodical when packing

Anyone who knows will tell you I am not an organised person BUT when it comes to packing boxes, believe me it is worth spending a little extra time labelling and sorting items. There is nothing more frustrating than getting into the new house and having to unpack every box to find a remote control for the TV, (And we all know it is always going to be in the last box you open!). So I tend to pack each room separately and label each box with the name of the room but also what is in the box, not everything but certain things I know I may look for straight away like a bottle opener!

Brown tape, sharpies and all that jazz

Don't even think of skimping when it comes to tape and pens! Believe me nothing is worse that a box breaking and the whole content of your underwear draw being scattered on the pavement for all to see! Brown tape and sharpies are a necessity as well as a notepad for making lists! Again ordinarily I am not really a huge list maker but when moving you must. Eve Sleep have got together with illustrator Emma Block and have made this really cool little checklist for you to stick on your fridge as soon as you know you are moving! You can download it here

Don't forget the teabags

There are a few things you will need to keep close to you and have ready as soon as you arrive at the new house.

  • Kettle, teabags, coffee, milk, no explanation necessary!
  • Clean towels, moving house is dirty work
  • Clean bedding, moving is exhausting and you will need fresh sheets to sleep in
  • A small selection of tools like screwdrivers, Allen keys, if nothing else you can put the beds together and get a good night sleep.
  • A few days before moving why not place a food order to be delivered to the new house, I did it this time, I booked a 6pm slot and got the kids in the kitchen unpacking all the groceries whilst we  were making beds.

The Eve bundle is your best friend

I said it before and it's true, moving is exhausting, stressful and nothing beats a good night sleep. Eve have put together a bundle made up of four essential bedroom items so you can upgrade your sleep cocoon in one fell swoop. The bundle can save you up to £192. That’s £192 you can spend on other new house goodies. Here’s what’s included...

  • 2 linen pillow cases and 1 linen duvet cover in white/light grey
  • The cloud-like original mattress
  • The 4.5 tog duvet
  • The mattress protector

Everything comes beautifully packaged in a box and with nominated delivery times you can even have it delivered straight  to your new home! It's the perfect occasion to treat yourself to new pillows and bedding!

For this project I am delighted to work with Eve Sleep. I was gifted a few products of my choice but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
