Knees Trowbridge, celebrating 140 years of trading

With more and more big names closing down their high street stores, Knees, a family owned business, is celebrating not just 140 years of trading but 140 years of being an actual brick and mortar store in Trowbridge and that’s no mean feat in today’s economic climate! Of course there has been changes made. The store has got bigger and moved from the high street to a small retail park where parking is easy and free.

But the secret doesn’t just lie in adapting to an ever evolving and difficult economical climate as well as a constant change in how people shop. It lies in consistently delivering excellent customer service whilst still providing a place to come and discover new products. So there was really no better way to celebrate 140 years of trading than by taking a huge leap forward with a complete overhaul of their entire stock.

Keen to keep their customers walking through their doors despite an increasing trend to shop online , Knees has added a whole host of new accessories such as faux plants, throws, cushions, art, an impressive choice of lighting solutions as well as a large selection of furniture. Most of their collections can be seen displayed in different room sets in their Trowbridge showroom. Upstairs you will find a huge range of kitchen appliances such as Miele, Rangemaster, Neff and Bosch with a working kitchen enabling staff to demonstrate all the latest products and gadgets.

I absolutely love visiting the store and I have put together four mood boards to showcase my favorite pieces in store and of course on line too.

Scandi boho

This is an easy look to achieve if you like the simplicity of Scandinavian design mixed with plenty of textures and warmed up with wood. The walls can be kept white or you can choose one the many earthy shades available. Some of my favourite include Warm beige from Jotun Lady , Skimming stone from Farrow and Ball or Earthy beige from Valspar

Textured jungle

This is all about bringing the outdoors in. The beauty of this is you can go as pared back or as eclectic as you like. Team up aged bronze pendants with plenty of plants, real or faux no one will ever know! Choose natural materials such as jute, wool, linen and wood and of course as always plenty of textures like this ochre fringed cushion.

Rustic glam

This is a soft look that mixes luxurious fabrics with earthy, time-worn pieces, the soft pink / peachy shades are balanced out by adding plenty of wood.

Earthy and pared back

Simple, minimal, no frill look where the emphasis is on the beauty of the materials like oak, glass, marble handmade ceramics and mixed with earthy colour palette.
